Tamara, from Canada, made this coat for her 4-year-old long haired Chihuahua named Tyke. She sewed a clip on the back for his leash which you can see in the inset picture. She says that she really likes how easy it is to put on and take off compared to other coats she has purchased for Tyke. She also mentioned that a Chihuahua in Canada really needs a warm coat and that Tyke loves it.
This is 2-year-old Pinina and the photo below her shows her 4-year-old sister, Suechi. Their mom, Chary, has made each of them about a dozen dresses from the vest pattern and says they love to wear them when they go out.
Jenny, from Ohio in the US, used the coat pattern to make this little dress for her dog Sadie, a 4 pound Pomeranian. The front portion of the dress is just like the vest, with velcro at the neck and belly. Then she cut off the back portion of the vest and added a skirt piece.
Ruby Jackson, from Myrtle Point, Oregon in the US, sent in this picture of Ricochet, a Basenji, wearing his new coat. Since Ricochet is much larger than the largest version of the pattern available here, Ruby enlarged the pattern by 50% on a copy machine. Also, since this breed of dog has such a large chest compared to the hind end, to make it fit she had to put a 1/2 inch dart on each side. You should be able to see the dart in the picture.
Nicole sent in these pictures of dresses she made for her Chihuahua, Peanut. She used the vest pattern however left the bottom end open and inserted the "skirt" after sewing it together then added ribbon as an accent.
