Step 4: Sewing the Skirt
The skirt has a hem line and a gather line. Hem the skirt first. You will probably want to iron the hem in place first since, because of the angle, it's a little difficult. I used a decorative stitch for the hem.
Next, sew the gather line, but do not gather the last inch on both sides. Gather it enough so that it fits between the 2 blue Xs below. This is where you'll be attaching the skirt to the bodice. The Xs in the picture above should meet the Xs in the picture below.
Next, just attach the bodice to the skirt, between the 2 blue X's above and add your velcro so the dress closes on the under side of your dog's chest.
There are a couple of different ways you can attach the skirt. To hide seams on the inside of the dress, iron the raw edges of the bodice under, then pin your gathered skirt between the 2 layers and sew in place. I didn't do it this way though, I just placed the bodice and skirt right sides together, so that the areas marked by blue Xs above met and sewed them together that way.
